The precipitation titrations of cadmium and mercury(II) as their iodo complexes vs cetylpyridinium chloride and tetraphenylarsonium chloride have been evaluated. Electromotive forces were monitored with a graphite rod coated with a solution of poly(vinylchloride) and dioctylphthalate in tetrahydrofuran and a double-junction reference electrode. Cadmium can be determined in the presence of a large excess of zinc.
