Nuclear quadrupole resonance in two crystalline forms of As2O3, Arsenolite and Claudetite I

Pulsed nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements have been performed on claudetite I and arsenolite from 4.2K to 300K. As expected, from X-ray results, two inequivalent but nearly degenerate As sites are observed in claudetite I and one As site is observed in arsenolite. The temperature dependence of the spin lattice relaxation times, T1, are consistent with relaxation via Raman phonon processes.
