Cyclopentadienyl- and methylcyclopentadienyl-(triphenylphosphine)gold(I) and cyclpentadienyl(triethylphosphine)gold(I) have been characterized by infrared and variable temperature proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The compounds are suggested to have monohapo (i.e. σ-bonded) rings, in contrast with the analogous copper(I) derivatives.
