Infra-red band assignments of DIBENZENECHROMIUM (cas 1271-54-1)(I) and ditoluenechromium(I) iodides and the CH out-of-plane force constants of their ligand molecules

Infra-red spectra were observed for dibenzenechromium (I) iodide, [Cr(C6H6)2]I, and ditoluenechromium (I) iodide, [Cr(C6H5CH3)2]I, in the region of 300–4000 cm−1, and vibrational assignments were made for their main absorption bands.The values of the CH out-of-plane force constants were calculated for the ligand benzene and toluene molecules, and the results were found to be very informative when compared with those calculated for the free state of these aromatic molecules.
