The preparation of a barium niobium bronze

A barium niobium oxide displaying bronze characteristics is found by the reaction of niobium metal with mixtures of barium and niobium oxides with Ba5Nb4O15. It is a red compound with the cubic perovskite-type structure a0 = 4.080 Å, a good electrical conductor and paramagnetic with Curie-Weiss behavior. The compound was not obtained pure but is believed to have the composition BaNbO3.
