SUMMARYThe anthelmintic activity of nitroxynil (4-hydroxy-3-iodo-5-nitrobenzonitrile) was tested in calves, lambs and adult sheep. Administered by subcutaneous injection at a dose rate of 10 mg./kg. treatment was effective against infections 1, 6, 14 and 21 days old. with Haemonchus contortus. No activity was seen against Dictyocaulus viviparus, Ostertagia sp., Tricho-strongylus sp., Coopcria sp. or Nematodirus sp. The results against Bunostomum trigonocephalum after 10 mg./kg. nitroxynil were inconclusive.
