Production of alterporriols, altersolanols and macrosporin by Alternaria porri and A. Solani

The production of alterporriols, altersolanols and macrosporin by Alternaria porri and A. solani was examined by means of HPLC. Alterporriol-A, -B and -C were detected from both species, using potato sucrose medium, and from A. porri, using onion decoction medium. They were not detected in either species, using Brian's T medium. Altersolanol-A and -B and macrosporin were detected in both species on all three media tested.
