Lamellar-ridge architectured gold (lamellar ridge-Au) with nanograin size and large accessible surface area was constructed using blue Morph butterfly-scales as architecture template by electroless deposition method. Surface molecular imprinting was further conducted by assembling 1-dodecanethiol, p-toluenethiol, and p-nitrophenol (p-NP) on lamellar ridge-Au surface followed by removing molecular template p-NP. By coupling surface imprinting effect with the elaborate lamellar-ridge architecture, excellent p-NP detection performance with good selectivity was achieved by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The linear range was 2.5 × 10−8 M–1 × 10−6 M and 1 × 10−6 M–3 × 10−4 M with a detection limit of 2.0 × 10−8 M (S/N = 3), which was 240 times lower than that of the bare lamellar ridge-Au (4.8 × 10−6 M).
