In-situ high pressure Raman spectra of crotonic acid have been measured up to 14 GPa, a possible solid–solid phase transition was detected at about 6 GPa from the frequency–pressure relationship. According to the relative intensity changes of typical Raman peaks, the inter-molecular hydrogen bond interactions, as well as molecular structural transformation are concluded. Compared to the linear frequency–pressure relationships, an exponential intensity–pressure relationship was concluded, which was sensitive to inter-molecular interactions under external compression.
