A method for the stereospecific synthesis of 2-[(2H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide-3-yl)thio]propanoic acids 1 has been developed. A new example of enantiomer self discrimination which can be conveniently used for the determination of enantiomeric purity by 1H NMR spectroscopy without a chiral auxiliary is also reported.
