2-METHOXYETHYLAMINE (cas 109-85-3): Detection of a second conformer by microwave spectroscopy

In a previous microwave investigation of 2-methoxyethylamine the spectrum of an internally hydrogen bonded conformer (G) was reported [W. Caminati and E. B. Wilson, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 81, 356–372 (1980)]. Now the rotational spectrum of a second internally hydrogen bonded conformer (T) has been assigned. In spite of its lower energy (ET − EG) = −85 (30) cm−1, the spectrum of T was not observed previously because of the unfavorable ratio of the μa dipole moment components: μa2(G)μa2(T) = 15.63. The N14 quadrupole coupling constants and the V3 methyl barrier to internal rotation have been determined.
