The stability constants (log K1) of the 1:1 chelates of dithiodiacetic acid and 3,3′-thiodipropionic acid formed with some bivalent metals were determined by the pH titration method at 25°C and the ionic strength of 0·1. The values of log K1 determined were Cd 1·9, Co 1·5, Cu ppt., Mn 1·7, Ni 1·8, Pb 2·4, Zn 1·6 for the former ligand, and Cd 2·0, Co 1·6, Cu 3·0, Mn 0·5, Ni 1·6, Pb 2·7 and Zn 1·6 for the latter ligand. In the previous paper [1] the stability of some bivalent metal chelates formed with the ligands containing sulphur as the co-ordinating atom was reported. The present paper deals with the stability of bivalent metal chelates of dithiodiacetic acid and 3,3′-thiodipropionic acid.
