In recent years, arylamines regained popularity as a multifunctional subunit in optoelectronic functional materials (Zeng et al., 2010; Liang and Chen, 2013; Yang et al., 2010; Teng et al., 2010; Li et al., 2012) [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. It is also considered to be an excellent building block for the construction of sensitizers because of its good electron-donating ability and thermal and electrochemical stability; these are all the key factors in the discovery and development of practical dye-sensitized solar cell devices. The triphenylamine unit is well-known structure for its strong electron-donating ability and hole-transport properties. A very large number of arylamine dyes with a variation of π-bridges have been developed, and most of them have shown good power conversion efficiencies in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). This chapter introduces the synthesis and applications of amine dyes.
