A guaianolide and a triterpene epoxide with a taraxasterene skeleton (ptiloepoxide) have been isolated from the aerial parts of Ptilostemmon gnaphaloides together with known compounds. The structure and relative stereochemistry of the triterpene epoxide were determined by high-field two-dimensional spectroscopy and DIFNOE experiments.
