Repaglinide is a nonsulfonylurea, oral hypoglycemic agent used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It stimulates insulin secretion by binding to the sulfonylurea receptor (SUR1) subunit of the KATP channel, thus blocking the channel, resulting in depolarization of the beta-cell membrane, and a consequent influx of Ca2 +. It is fast acting, with a short duration of action and is administered before each meal.
