Based on the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, we discuss the variation dynamics of the peak intensity of high-order rogue wave with shift parameters theoretically, and reveal a non-derivable transformation point in it. The critical behavior of rogue waves shows that the ultimate cause of the transformation point is the ephemeral four-peak state of them. As a practical example, we discuss the experimental feasibility for observing the transformation point in nonlinear fiber optics.
