Tellurium(IV) complexes of 2-pyrrolidine-thione, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidine-thione and NN′ dimethyldithiooxamide

Tellurium(IV) complexes of formula TeX4L2 and TeX4L′; where L is 2-pyrrolidine-thione (TBuL) or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidine-thione (NMTBuL), L′ is NN′ dimethyldithiooxamide (Me2DH2) and Xz.dbnd;Cl, Br have been prepared and characterised. The IR and Raman spectra of the compounds are reported. The bands due to ν(tellurium-halogen) are retained in the complexes but new bands which may be assigned to ν(TeS) are obtained for all the complexes. The 2-pyrrolidine-thione and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidine-thione complexes are coordinated through sulphur atoms but the dithiooxamide complexes appear to be SN coordinated.
