An efficient adsorptive removal of CARMINE (cas 1328-60-5) dye onto the synthesized magnetic Octaminopropyl silsesquioxane (POSS)-grafteD-RAFT agent (MPGR) nanocomposite was investigated. The effect of the variables such as contact time, adsorbent mass loaded, pH, initial dye concentration and temperature was considered. The morphology and structure of the synthesized adsorbent were analyzed by FTIR, FESEM, TEM, XRD, TGA and VSM. The experimental data were in good agreement with Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption capacity of 435 mg.g−1 was determined. The π-π interaction between the dye aromatic structure and CO bond, hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions are the reason for high adsorption capacity of the novel adsorbent. The maximum efficiency removal of the carmine dye was 99.1% and the equilibrium was achieved in 45 min which indicates a fast adsorption process. The kinetic data was fitted to pseudo second order model. The adsorbent had a suitable stability in pH = 8 at room temperature. The results indicate that carmine dye adsorption onto MPGR is endothermic. Comparing with different adsorbents the synthesized adsorbent has an appropriate capability for dye removal from waste water.
