Bis(1,2-dithiosquarato)tellurate(II) a new chalcogenochalcogenate

Bis(benzyltriphenylphosphonium)[bis(1,2-dithiosquarato)tellurate(II)], (BzlPh3P)2[Te(dtsq)2], can be obtained by the reaction of potassium 1,2-dithiosquarate (K2dtsq) with sodium telluropentathionate, Na2Te(S2O3)2, under an argon atmosphere in deoxygenized water/methanol and precipitation by large cations (e.g., benzyltriphenylphosphonium). The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cc with the unit cell parameters a=15.2892(9) Å, b=11.7992(7) Å, c=28.800(2) Å and ß=91.6320(10)°. The central tellurium atom has a square planar TeS4 coordination sphere.
