The standard enthalpies (ΔHR⦵) for the reaction: MX2(c) → M(DA)X2(c) (n = 1 for Zn, Cd and X = Cl, Br, I and n = 2 for Hg and X = Cl, Br) were determined by solution calorimetry. From known enthalpies of formation of metal halides and ligand, the enthalpies of formation of the adducts were obtained. Mass spectral and thermogravimetry data suggest that the adducts exist only in the solid state. However, the enthalpy of the metal-oxygen bond was evaluated for each adduct.
