A gas-liquid chromatographic study of the adsorption properties of a stationary phase containing a mixture of squalane and Bentone (cas 1340-68-7) 34Activity coefficients of n-alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene and xylenes solutions in a mixture of squalane and Bentone 34 are determined by gas-liquid chromatography. The influence of different parameters is specified: the quantity of Bentone 34 situated in the stationary phase, the temperature, and the thermal pre-treatment of Bentone 34.A mixture of 7.5% bentone 34 and 20% squalane is the best composition for separation of xylene isomers. The temperature of thermic treatment of Bentone 34 should not exceed 230°C.
