From the rhizome of Hypoxis nyasica a new monoglucoside, the 1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-(3',4' -dihydroxyphenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-0-β -D-glucopyranoayl-pentan-4-yne named nyasicoside, was isolated and its structure elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
