A novel treatment for removing As from a Cu electrolyte using titanium(IV) oxysulfate coprecipitation and carbothermal reduction is investigated. Experimental results show that under the conditions of an agitation speed of 200 r·min-1, a Ti:As molar ratio of 1.5, a processing time of 60 min at 80 °C, the results show that this As removal process can be conducted stably, the As precipitation efficiency is as high as 91.36%, and the concentration of As in the solution can be reduced to approximately 1.2 g·L-1. The regeneration of titanium(IV) oxysulfate is also investigated, and the NaOH leaching technique can be determined. Under the conditions of an agitation speed of 200 r·min-1, a Na:As molar ratio of 1.5, a liquid–solid ratio of 4/1 mL/g, an alkali-leaching time of 30 min at 25 °C, 98% of the As is leached from the precipitant. After the removal of As from the alkali solution via lime precipitation, a Ca-As residue is obtained. Subsequently, the carbothermal reduction of the Ca-As residue is investigated. Under the conditions of a C:As molar ratio of 1.75 and a recovery time of 60 min at 1000 °C, 99.98% of the As in the Ca-As residue is reduced.
