SummaryA series of 103 patients undergoing radiation therapy for carcinoma of the larynx, oesophagus, breast, bronchus and the reticuloses, on whom a clinical trial of aludrox and Oxethazaine (cas 126-27-2) was performed in an attempt to relieve their symptoms of radiation-induced sore throat and oesophagitis, has been reviewed.It would appear from this clinical trial, in which 75 per cent of the patients gained relief from their symptoms, that ‘Mucaine’ is a good medication, provided it is used at the onset of the symptoms, as late administration renders little relief.
