Dichloromaleic anhydride (cas 1122-17-4)-containing chloropolyesters as matrices for composites

A number of flexible chloropolyesters based on tetrachlorophthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, dichloromaleic anhydride and mixed glycols have been formulated and synthesized. These chloropolyesters have been characterised for gel time and exotherm peak temperature, tensile strength, percentage elongation, water absorption, flame retardance and heat resistance. A comparison of properties of various flexible chloropolyesters suggests that fcpm-90(I) possesses a combination of flexibility and flame-retardant characteristics and may prove an excellent matrix for composite materials.
