Acid dissociation constants of some β-keto esters, viz ethyl acetoacetate, ethyl α-phenyl acetoacetate, ethyl α-γ-diphenyl acetoacetate, ethyl α-(phenyl)phenylpropioloylacetate, ethyl α-(α-napththyl) phenylpropioloylacetate, have been determined potentiometrically in 75 vol% dioxane-water media at 30°C. The “thermodynamic” stability constants of their chelates formed with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and U(VI) have also been determined. The effects of substituents in the β-keto ester on the equilibria are discussed.
