The detn. was based on the proportionality between the logarithm of the initial concn. of the lactic acid isomer and the logarithm of the increase in the absorbance at 340 nm corresponding to the amt. of NADH at the equil. attained by the action of the specific dehydrogenase. It was possible to det. rapidly the amt. of D- [10326-41-7] or L-lactic acid [79-33-4] in the culture broth of lactic bacteria. .

D(-)- and L(+)-lactic acid detn. to prove adulterations by addn. of lactic acid, abnormal activity of microorganisms, and for identity tests in wines was discussed.
