- Bicarbonate hemodialysis. Pharmaceutical aspects. Hamon, M.; Renaux, C.; Pradeau, D. (Pharm. Cent. Hop. Paris, Paris 75221, Fr.). Nephrologie, 4(4-5), 174-7 (French) 1983. CODEN: NEPHDY. ISSN: 0250-4960. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Specific problems during prepn. of concd. hemodialysis solns. contg. bicarbonate occur because of the low soly. of NaHCO3 in water and the risk of pptn. of CaCO3 and MgCO3. These problems were solved by making 2 different concd. solns., the first one bringing the major essential elements, at the exclusion of bicarbonate, the second less concd., with bicarbonate and K gluconate [299-27-4], the latter complexing Fe and so preventing pptn. of Fe2(CO3)3. Various pharmaceutical steps are described: formulation, choice of raw materials and manufg. processes, quality control, etc.
- Intestinal absorption and metabolic fate of potassium gluconate
- Intestinal absorption and metabolic fate of potassium gluconate. Tomizawa, Setsuo; Kurebe, Masaru (Sch. Pharm. Sci., Kitasato Univ., Tokyo, Japan). Oyo Yakuri, 11(3), 381-6 (Japanese) 1976. CODEN: OYYAA2. ISSN: 0369-8033. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Following oral administration of 14C-labeled K gluconate [299-27-4], an antihypokalemic agent, at 50 mg/kg to rats, high radioactivity was detected in portal blood and the kidney at 10-30 min, and in the bladder, submaxillary gland, liver, and kidney at 4 h. During the 1st 24 h, the radioactivity increased in the liver, spleen, adrenals, testis, and lung, but decreased in other tissues. About 12% of the radioactivity given was excreted in the urine and 0.05% in the bile in 10 h. The absorption of K by everted sacs of rat ileum was greater in medium contg. K gluconate than in medium contg. KCl.
