Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Paeoniflorin is used as an active compound for its various pharmacological effects, including analgesic, anti-diuretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant, and vasodilatory actions. Used in Neuroprotective Applications:
Paeoniflorin is used as a neuroprotective agent to inhibit Aβ25-35-induced mitochondrial dysfunction, which includes decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, increased Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, cytochrome c release, and activity of caspase-3 and caspase-9. It can attenuate or restore the viability loss, apoptotic increase, and ROS production induced by Aβ25-35 in SH-SY5Y cells, making it a potential candidate for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
Used in Anti-Inflammatory and Immunomodulatory Applications:
