Andolast (CAS NO.: 132640-22-3), with its systematic name of Benzamide, 4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-N-(4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl)-, could be produced through many synthetic methods.

Following is one of the synthesis routes: Coupling between 4-cyanobenzoyl chloride (I) and 4-aminobenzonitrile (II) by means of Et₃N affords the corresponding amide (III). The dicyano compound (III) is then treated with sodium azide and ammonium chloride in hot DMF to produce the title bis-tetrazolyl derivative.
