Following is one of the synthesis routes: 1,3-Dibromobenzene (I) reacts with trimethylsilyl chloride (II) in the presence of Mg in ethyl ether to produce 3-(trimethylsilyl)bromobenzene (III), which is then condensed with ethyl trifluoroacetate (IV) by means of butyllithium in ethyl ether - hexane.
