N-Organyl-B-t-butyl-borazines <-Bt-bu-NR->3 or diazadiboretidines <-Bt-bu-NR'->2 are obtained from the reaction of t-butyllithium and the corresponding B-fluoroborazines.The ring size of the products is controlled by the steric requirement of the N-substituents.B-tri-t-butyl-N-tri-i-propylborazine (which behaves as a fluctional Dewarborazine in solution) quantitatively gives the corresponding diazadiboretidine upon heating to 200 deg C.B-di-t-butyl-N-bis(trimethylsilyl)diazadiboretidine is made from the B-tri-fluoro-N(trimethylsilyl)borazine and t-butyl lithium or by pyrolysis of t-bu(F)B-N(Sime3)2.The products are characterized by mass- and NMR-(1H, 11B, 13C, 29Si) spectra and elemental analyses.
