Diethoxyethenylidenetriphenylphosphorane adds ethanol to give 2,2,2-triethoxyethylidenetriphenylphosphorane which undergoes the Wittig reaction with aromatic aldehydes to afford triethyl 3-arylorthoacrylates.In these products, the (E)-isomers predominate.
