The reaction of ClAuPPh3 with sodium 3,5-diphenylpyrazolate in tetrahydrofuran with added AgOCOPh yields hexakis(μ-3,5-diphenylpyrazolato-N,N')-hexagold(I) (1), a compound with a novel 18-membered twisted ring and a fused-edge bi-tetrahedral grouping of gold atoms, as determined crystallographically.
