Steric substituent effects on 13C nmr chemical shifts of 8-(exo/endo)-substituted 1,5-dimethylbicyclo[3.2.1]octanes

The ¹³C n.m.r. spectra of a aeries 8-(exo/endo)-substituted 1, 5-diinethylbicyclo[3.2.1]octanes have been obtained and the effects of the present substituents X, and Y (=H, OR, alkyi) on the ¹³C-chemical shifts of the skeleton carbon atoms determined. Especially the steric γ-high field effects are discussed within proposed mechanisms.
