Alkynyltin reagents add to the 2-position of 3-acylpyridines activated by methyl chloroformate regio- and chemoselectively to give 2,3-disubstituted 1,2-dihydropyridines, whereas alkynyl Grignard reagents suffer from a lack of regio- or chemoselectivity.
