Synthesis of 11 η⁶-benzenetricarbonylchromium analogues of chalcones, starting from the appropriately substituted η⁶-benzaldehydetricarbonylchromium as well as substituted η⁶-acetophenonetricarbonylchromium complexes is described.Dimethylmalonate addition to the chalcone and its Cr(CO)3 complex takes place with the same regioselectivity.
