Cis-3,4-dimethoxycyclobutene adds to monosubstituted diazomethanes syn-stereoselectively.Ionization energies and electron affinities of a series of disubstituted cyclobutenes were measuted.The face selectivity is discussed with the help of calculated properties of ground and transition states.
