Dodecacarbonyltriruthenium reacts with amides to give polymeric clusters of the type 2-η²-HNOCR)2>_n (1: R=Me, 2: R=Et, 3: R=ⁱPr, 4: R=Ph).These substances are only soluble under depolymerisation in solvents having good coordination properties such as dimethyl sulfoxide or acetonitrile, or in the presence of suitable ligands.The triphenylphosphane and acetonitrile complexes Ru2(CO)4(μ₂-η²-HNOCMe)2(PPh3)2 (5) and Ru2(CO)4(μ₂-η²-HNOCPh)2(MeCN)2 (6) have been isolated as dinuclear derivatives.Compound 6 crystallizes in the space group P1/, a 10.274(5), b 10.872(6), c 13.394(5) Angstroem, α 113.68(3), β 92.20(2) and γ 102.74(2) deg.The two ruthenium atoms are bridged by the two carbamoylato ligands in a head-to-tail arrangement; the Ru-Ru distance being 2.688(1) Angstroem.The CO groups are trans with respect to the bridging ligands, to give rise to a sawhorse-like structure.
