Radical chain addition of 1,1,1-trichloroethane and, respectively, 1,1-dichloroethane to <1.1.1>-propellane led to bicyclo<1.1.1>pentane derivatives 5 and 6 which could be converted by sodium amide into the acetylenes 9 and 10.Glaser type coupling afforded the diacetylenes 12 and 13.
