The 3-methylenecephams underwent 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with diazomethane to give spiropyrazolinocephams in a completely stereo- and regioselective manner. Thermal breakdown of these 1-pyrazolines led to spirocyclopropane and vinyl derivatives.
