Reaction of the anionic form of the hexadentate ligand 1,4,7-tris(5-t-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (H3L) with VCl3 in MeCN affords LV^III which is oxidized chemically and electrochemically to IV>(1+) and V>(2+); electrochemical, magnetic, and electronic spectroscopic properties of these complexes and the X-ray structure of are reported.
