A new type of tetracyclic compounds, cistransoid-cis- and cis-cisoid-cis-tetracyclo[6.6.0.01,11.03,7]tetradecan-12- ones, having a tetraquinane framework, has been synthesized by the novel acid-catalyzed rearrangement.
