As representatives of a novel class of carboxylic nucleoside analogues (+/-)-cis-, (-)-cis and (+/-)-trans 9-(2-hydroxymethylcyclopropyl)-adenine (= <2-(6-amino-purin-9-yl)-cyclopropyl>-methanol) were synthesized from the corresponding dialkyl 1,2-cyclopropane dicarboxylates.
