An enantioselective iridium-catalyzed hydrogenation of 3-alkoxycarbonyl-2- substituted quinoline derivatives is described. This methodology provides a convenient route to enantiopure endocyclic β-amino acids with two contiguous stereocenters with up to 90% ee. Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart New York.
