Phenyl sulfones bearing an ortho dimethylsilyl group capable of conversion to the aryldimethylsilyl triflate moiety display significantly enhanced leaving group ability relative to simple phenyl sulfones. Under mild acid catalyzed conditions, ortho-allyld
