Potassium carbonate/Kriptofix 222 and pyridinium p-toluenesulfonate or BF₃-etherate have been found to remove the tert-butyldimethylsilyl group from phenolic and alcoholic silyl ethers, respectively. This methodology should find wide applicability in complex organic synthesis.
