2 (1) reacts with ^+- (2) as well as with the neutral Ph2PCH2CH2NMe2 (4) to give the water soluble cationic dinuclear rhodium complex 2²⁺2^2- (3) and the neutral dinuclear complex 2 (5), respectively.Both are highly active catalysts for hydrogenation.The NMR spectra of the new compounds and the X-ray crystal structure analysis of 5 are reported and discussed.
