Large sulfur-nitrogen heterocycles: Preparation of the sulfur imides S(n)NH (n = 8, 9, 11) and structures of S8NH and S9NH

A surprisingly simple, systematic route to the title compounds is achieved by ligand transfer from [Cp₂TiS-NH] to the difunctional sulfanes S(n)Cl₂ (n = 1,2). This should provide new impetus to sulfur nitrogen chemistry. Whereas the structure of S₉NH (shown on the right) is significantly different from that of S₁₀, the structure of S₈NH resembles that of S₉.
