Natural (-)-(1R,2S)-ephedrine was used as a starting material for the preparation of a novel chiral cyclopentadienyl ligand in a three-step procedure.The new ligand contains a nitrogen atom suitable for chelation to a transition metal, as well as two stereogenic centers.
